Thomas wins English Reading Challenge
Mrs Beckett, Head of English, was delighted to present Thomas Mathison, Year 8, with his reading 'pin' on Wednesday 8th November. 'Win the Pin' is a challenge devised and organised by Mrs Beckett to encourage readers of all abilities to engage with books and reading material, regardless of their reading ability. There are eight challenges available and in order to 'win the pin', students select three and upload photographic or written evidence of the challenge being met to Google Classroom. All of the challenges are completed beyond the classroom and some even involve being on location!
Thomas is the first ever recipient of the prestigious 'pin' which features a phoenix flying out of the pages of a book. The idea is based on the concept that reading should give you wings, help you soar in life and take your literacy to new heights!
Deadline for submissions is Friday 24 November. If any other junior school pupils are interested in taking part, please contact Mrs Beckett in F24.
