Lagan College launch Safer Schools NI App

We are delighted to be launching the Safer Schools NI App to our school community today, provided by the Department of Education and INEQE Safeguarding Group.

Did you know that 𝟵𝟮% of children in Northern Ireland are using video sharing platforms, 𝟱𝟯% using social media and 𝟲𝟱% are accessing messaging apps (Ofcom, 2020)? If your child hasn’t already been using these platforms, they soon will be! Therefore, it’s more important than ever to be aware of how to keep your child safe.

We are rolling out this app to staff, students and parents/carers, which is a digital library of age-appropriate safeguarding resources available 24/7. More information has been sent to students and parent/carers via email.

We hope this app helps our school community stay safe and aware online, and will help support our existing pastoral care and well-being practices to provide a caring, supportive and safe environment where all our young people can learn and develop to their full potential.
