Computing students welcome CME Group and Options & Liberty IT
On Wednesday 21st February 2024 the Computing Department welcomed CME Group (the world’s leading derivatives marketplace) to talk to Year 14 Software Systems Development (SSD) students about their fantastic Higher Level IT Apprentice opportunities. We were especially delighted that Taylor Mateer was part of the team that came in. Taylor completed his SSD studies at Lagan last year and is now a valued apprentice at CME.
Our students got to hear, first hand, about what successful candidates receive:
•Full funding for a BSC Hons Computing Systems degree with Ulster University
•A competitive apprenticeship salary
•A supportive, nurturing learning environment
•Valuable experience of working in a global corporate, within a local office in central Belfast
In recent weeks we have also had Options and Liberty Information Technology provide talks about their own amazing apprenticeship programs, with Options offering a finance as well as software development pathway. We are delighted that the number of companies offering these opportunities continues to grow and that Lagan students are very much in demand, with one each going to CME, Liberty IT and Options from the class of 2023. We look forward to hearing of their progress in future and are delighted to have friends and connections in such successful global companies.
