The Lagan College Sentinus Team were invited to the STEM in Action event at Stormont on Thursday 1st March 2012. Guests at the event included representatives from local engineering firms and Queen’s University, as well as two MLAs.
The event provided a real insight into how young people can progress the STEM agenda for the benefit of the Northern Ireland economy. On display were exhibitions of students’ STEM projects from a number of Sentinus initiatives including the ‘Team R&D’ Programme. Teams of talented Lower Sixth students work with companies to solve real industrial R&D problems.
Our team displayed great enthusiasm and knowledge as they explained our work on fixing a problem with the rear tail rotor assembly on a Gazelle helicopter.
I’d like to say a huge thanks to our team. (Luke Morton, Ben Hounsell, Alice Popplestone, Duncan MacMillan and Max Burns.
