NI Integrated Dance Event

June 25th, 2010

The NI Integrated Schools Forum was held in Stormont Hotel and Stormont castle on thursday 10th June 2010. The event was opened by the Lagan Junior Dance Team. The dance season had finished in March so they managed to squeeze in 2 training sessions after the summer examinations. The dancers were very relaxed and performed a fantastic demonstration of their dance. Afterwards they were treated to a chocolate

fountain. Check out the photos of their performance in front of 200 year 10 Integrated pupils from across NI.

Year 8 Basketball Team just miss out on Ulster Blitz Semi-Final

May 19th, 2010

The Year 8 squad travelled to Rathmore to compete in the Ulster Schools basketball blitz.  There were four groups of teams with the winner of each qualifying for semi-final spots.  Lagan came up against their hosts Rathmore in their first pool game and blasted out to an 8 nil lead in the first quarter.  The second quarter saw Rathmore claw back into the game to leave it 10-8 to Lagan at the half-time buzzer.  Lagan came out strong in the third quarter with ex-pupil Patrick McGaharan doing a great job coaching the Lagan youngsters.  The Lagan men played tough defense in the last quarter to leave Rathmore scoreless.  Lagan finished off the games comfortable winners on an 18-8 scoreline.

In their second pool game Lagan came up against Abbey Grammar from Newry.  Both teams started slowly and found it hard to settle but Lagan creeped out to a 6-2 first quarter lead.  The second quarter saw Abbey come back into the game with some good defense and scores.  The half finished on a 8-6 scoreline in favour of Lagan.  Lagan pushed harder and raised their intensity levels in the third quarter and jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the end of the third.  Lagan then closed out the game in the fourth winning comfortably 18-10.

Lagan’s last pool game came against St. Patrick’s Grammar Armagh the only other undefeated squad.  The winner would qualify for the semi-finals to be played at the Antrim Forum.  The game was very tightly contested with Armagh running out 6-0 winners.

Football Update

March 24th, 2010

FOOTBALL

YEAR 12 (March)

Lost away at Bangor after they scored 3 in 5 minutes in the second half, however they are a strong team and deserved the points.  Good performances from Andy Bell, Carl Harvey and Jack Hollywood.

Year 11 Football

A so called understrength year 11 team took on Bangor on 23rd march and put in a great performance going down 4-2 after a comeback from 3 nil to 3-2.  Superb goals from Daniel Toal and Mark Coulter (year 10) and top performances from all 12 players especially the three year 10 lads stepping up, Alex Pollock and Ben McCadden.
